The SQL Server (NUCLEUS) will not start and gives error 3417 or 3414 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Corrupt database.

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching Venus 1500 v4, you receive a Nucleus Service Error.
  • When updating Venus 1500 v4, you receive a Network-related or Instance-Specific error during the installation.
  • When trying to manually start the SQL Server (NUCLEUS), you receive one of the following errors:
    • Windows could not start the SQL Server (NUCLEUS) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to server specific error code 3417.
    • May also see error code 3414

Cause

  • Nucleus Database is corrupted and will not allow the SQL Server (NUCLEUS) to be started.

Resolution

  • Update SQL database and software to v4.19 or above.
