Cannot send new messages to display, Loose RS-422 to radio connection.

Potential Symptoms

  • Not able to send new messages or otherwise communicate with the display but messages are currently running on it.
  • Get no response when trying to get status within Venus 1500.
  • Red "TX Data Out" light flashes on J-box when getting status but amber "RX Data In" light does not.
  • The loop back test on the server radio (TB 1) fails.
  • The loop back test on the server radio (TB 2) passes.

Cause

  • RS-422 to radio connection not securely attached to J-box.

Resolution

  1. Unplug the Phoenix connector from the side of the Radio J-box (green plug).
  2. Confirm and secure the 6 wires going into the Phoenix connector using a small flat head screwdriver with correct pinout.

  3. Plug the Phoenix connector back into the J-box ensuring it is pushed all the way in.
  4. Verify communication with display.
