Unable to communicate with display, Improper radio installation.

Potential Symptoms

  • Can't communicate with the display.
  • When trying to ping the display's IP address may receive "Destination Host Unreachable" or may receive responses if packet size is small.
  • When checking diagnostic LED inside server radio, PWR is Lit, ETH Link LED is Lit, but signal quality has few LEDs lit (poor signal quality).
  • May experience intermittent communication but with many drop outs and RSSI values of the radios at the end of operating range (-68dBm to -99dBm).
  • Intermittent packet loss with direct connection to the Power over Ethernet Injector (POE).

Cause

  • Server and/or Client radio is not mounted according to Daktronics installation guidelines.
    • Examples: 
      • Mounted inside building.
      • No clear line of sight between radios.
      • Radio antennas not pointing same direction (not on same plane).
      • Mounted too close to each other (A minimum of 20ft is needed between the server and client radio).
      • Mounted too far from each other, length is at or over 1500 feet (a maximum of 1500 feet between radios is recommended).
