Resolution
- Go to computer management.
- Locate the usb to serial adapter in the "Ports (COM & LPT)" list or from "unknown devices" if a driver has not been installed.
- Double-click on the adapter and go to the "Details" tab from the new window.
- Verify that "Device Instance Path" is chosen in the drop down.
- VID number listed is the vendor ID.
- PID number listed is the product ID.
