Galaxy, Primary/Primary, Can't connect to displays after install of new controller in second primary

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to both displays after putting a new controller in the second primary side.
  • Were previously able to communicate with display 1.
  • Address on side 2 controller is 1 (both controllers on same address).

Environment

  • Galaxy, Primary/Primary
  • MDC, M2
  • Venus 1500
  • Modem or serial types of communication

Cause

  • Replacement controller in the second primary display was left addressed as 1.

Resolution

  • Both controllers need to be addressed differently for serial communication with a single connection to the computer.
  • Locate the dip switches or address dials on the replacement controller and change them so that they match the switches on the controller that was or is being replaced.
  • Address on controller at this point should match the address given in Venus display configuration.
