Receive "A firmware update is available" message when connecting to an M2 controlled display

Potential Symptoms

  • Getting firmware update prompt that reads: "A firmware update is available for this display. However Venus 1500 cannot apply this update." in Venus 1500 Version 4 software when connecting to the display or receiving: "Venus 1500 detected that the firmware on your display is out of date. Would you like to update it to the latest version?" when connecting to display.

Cause

  • The controller is not loaded with the latest version of firmware.

Resolution

  • A firmware upgrade is not recommended with the display models listed above unless the display is experiencing an issue that can not otherwise be resolved, in most instances the work around listed below will be sufficient.

Work Around

  • Modify the Venus 1500 Options settings so the software does not automatically check for firmware updates when launched:
    1. Left click on the orange V located in the upper left hand corner of the Venus 1500 software.
    2. Select Venus 1500 Options.

    3. Remove the check mark from the Always check for firmware updates selection box and select OK.
