Network connection showing as Network Cable unplugged; failing network port

Potential Symptoms

  • Networks Local Area Connection shows "Network cable unplugged", "Media disconnected".
  • Unable to connect to Daktronics display with one computer, but can connect with a different computer using the same Ethernet cable.
  • Able to connect when using a USB-Ethernet adapter.

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GP4, Show Control Laptop
  • Component: Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC)
  • Control System: Venus 1500 version 4, version 3, Display Studio

Cause

  • Network port on laptop/computer is not working.

Resolution

  • Reset the NIC by disabling and then enabling the LAN port or by rebooting laptop/computer.
    • If this does not work then have the computer repaired or change computers.

For Temporary Operation

  1. If directly connected to the display, can attempt to use a USB-Ethernet adapter.
