Venus 1500: How to create and configure a Galaxy display in version 3.

Steps

Option 1: Auto Configure display.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 Administrator (Hammer & Gears).
  2. Click Edit -> Display Wizard or click Yes to launch Display Wizard if prompted.
  3. Select Auto detect displays, click Next.
  4. Click Create a new network resource, click Next.
  5. Select appropriate Network Type, click Next.
    • Direct Networks - If you are using a serial communication setup
    • TCP/IP Networks - If you are using a Ethernet communication setup
    • Dialup Networks - If you are using a Dialup Modem
  6. Choose the appropriate COM PortDialup Modem or type in the IP address or DHCP name.
    • If using dialup, you will need to entering the phone number. You may need to dial 9 or area code to dial display.
  7. Type in amount of displays that utilize this exact same resource.
    • Usually displays are daisy chained together or share one cable to run from computer location to the displays.
  8. If display is found, type in a Display Name, click Next.
  9. Select the proper Time zone and DST, click Finish.

 Option 2: Manually Configure display, assuming you know your display configuration type and specifications.

  1. Click Venus 1500 Administrator (Hammer & Gears).
  2. Click Edit -> Display Wizard or click Yes to launch Display Wizard if prompted.
  3. Select Manually create a display, click Next.
  4. Select Create a new configuration, click Next.
  5. Select Controller Type (MDC controllers are version 2, M2 and M3 controllers are Version 3), click next
  6. Select Product Family Type, click Next.
  7. Select Height, Width and Color Depth.
  8. Select an Existing configured network or select Create a new network resource. (See above Option 1, 4-7 if configuring a new network)
  9. Type in a Display Name, Click Next.
  10. Select the proper Time zone and DST, click Finish.

Obtain Status to the newly configured display.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 Display Manager (Computer & Lightning Bolt).
  2. Under Display List, select and highlight the Display Name just created.
  3. Click Get Status.
    • If information appear under Get Status, such as Date, Time and Display Memory, the display was successfully connected to.
    • If information does not appear troubleshoot based on communication or contact Daktronics Hardware Support at 1-800-325-8766.
