D-Link USB to Ethernet Adapter, Error 84 Occurs on the Driver Installation when the Adapter is Plugged into the Computer

Potential Symptoms

  • Error 84 occurs when the driver installation reaches the section when the adapter is plugged into the computer.
  • Unable to communicate with the display through D-link adapter.
  • D-link does not show up in Network Connections.
  • Device manager show D-100 with error indicator. 

Environment

  • D-Link USB to Ethernet Adapter
  • Galaxy
  • AF-3500, AF-3550

Cause

  • Driver installed incorrectly or did not install.

Resolution

  1. Check to see if D-Link is showing correctly in Device manager.
  2. If it did verify static IP is set correctly.
