Galaxy, Display is dimming during the hottest times of the day and the display firmware is 3.10.0 or older.
Potential Symptoms
- Display is dimming during high-temperature events like, full sun plus 90-degree ambient temps.
- Diagnostics Test Pattern is returning an improper value. Module ID and Check Sum may return an X or ?.
- Example: Returned a value of 2 or C.
Environment
- Product Family: Message Displays
- Product: AF-3500, Animated Displays, Electronic Message Center (EMC) or Board (EMB), Marquee, Readerboard, Display
- Component: M3 Controller based product (DD1425608.EXE 3.10.0 or prior)

- Control System:
Cause
- Controller firmware is enabling thermal dimming.
Resolution
- Update firmware to 3.11.1 or newer on the controller. This update will take 3-5 minutes to complete once uploaded. It is critical to NOT power cycle during this time.
- Update firmware on the MLC to the following or higher:
- EPLD - Type 55 Rev 12
- Micro - Type 20 Rev 5C
