Venus 7000: How do I set a sign gamma value?
Potential Symptoms
What is the best practice for setting a sign gamma value in Venus® 7000?
Does the content look good? Is there good contrast?
Environment
- DMP-7000/ Venus 7000
LED displays need to use what is called a gamma correction to display images properly. The graphic below shows a lower gamma setting vs. a higher gamma setting. Notice on the higher gamma setting how the reds become very rich, particularly in the lips and nose area.
Resolution
Open the Venus® 7000 shell and click "Display".
2. Under the Display screen, select the host sign that needs to have the gamma level adjusted.
3. Right click then select Gamma..., as shown below.
4. If it is not already selected, click on the Manual Gamma radio button to allow manual control.
5. Click on the drop down and select the desired setting.
Note: It is recommended to start with a gamma setting of 2.2 and adjust from there.
The level that is chosen from the drop down selection box depends on the lighting conditions when viewing the display. In general, the Gamma Range for an outdoor display should be in the range of 2.2 to 2.6. For indoor displays the range will typically be around 2.2
- Higher the gamma levels have the potential to lose lower (dark) level detail.
- Lower the number the greater the potential of losing high (light) level detail.
6. Select "Apply" for the settings to take effect.
