Steps

  1. NOTE: It is important to refer to the Installation manual for the specific product in questions.
    NOTE: Local and National Electrical codes need to be followed.

  2. Gather all the proper tools:
    • Earth Ground Clamp-On Meter.
    • Ground Electrode (Ground Rod).
    • Ground Conductor (Copper Ground Wire).
  3. Installation of the ground rod:
    • Locate the ground lug on the back of the display (each face will have a ground lug).  The ground lug will have a label beside it.
    • Connect the ground conductor to the ground lug.
    • Route the wire to a ground electrode (ground rod)

  4. Verify resistance measurement is 25 Ohms or less.
    • Measure the resistance to ground with an Earth Ground Clamp-on Meter similar to the ones pictured here.

    • These meters typically come with a calibration card and should be calibrated prior to each reading.
    • The proper way to take the reading is to clamp the meter as close to the earth ground electrode (ground rod) as possible.
