Display Studio: Edit Only Mode

Topic

This Article will go over the functionality of a new feature in Display Studio, Edit Only Mode.

Environment

Display Studio: How do I use the volume control widget?

  • Product: Display Studio v4.24
  • Components: Edit Only Mode
  • Control System: Show Control Workstation

Steps

Overview:

Released in Display Studio v4.24, Edit Only Mode provides Show Control Operators and Technicians the access to modify and import content into a scripting container without risk of outputting any content to the display. Essentially, while in this mode, you have disabled the output of Display Studio, giving the operator the reassurance that nothing they do will be sent to the video display while they are adding or modifying scripted buttons.

When to use this:

This is helpful in a live service scenario, where you would like to edit or test your scripts, but there is a live event going on. While you are in this mode on your Workstation, another Operator at a secondary workstation can still be triggering content, allowing you to work uninterrupted and not interrupting the production.

This is also useful if you are working in Display Studio and there is a class or a team practicing who could find it distracting to have content flashing on the display as an operator is importing and creating scripts.

How to enable this:

What Edit Only Mode Disables:

  • Disables Scripted Buttons
  • Volume Control
  • Dimming Control
  • RossTalk Triggers

How to Exit Edit Only Mode:

By clicking the top banner of the workspace or going back into the Properties tab and clicking 'Edit Only Mode', you will be prompted with a dialog box to ask for confirmation and give awareness that you are leaving Edit Only Mode. By clicking Exit Edit Only Mode, you will be returned to the standard production mode.
