Venus Control Suite Data Studio: How to configure Managed Token authentication for a web data source?

This article explains how to configure Managed Token authentication for a web data source in Data Studio.

 
Managed Token authentication allows Data Studio to connect to data sources that require an authentication token before data can be retrieved. Once configured, Data Studio can use the authentication settings to retrieve data from the source.

Steps

Access Data Studio and Create a Web Source
  1. Log in to Venus Control Suite
  2. Navigate to Data Studio.

  1. Select an existing Web Data Source or configure a new Web Data Source
  2. Select the Authentication tab.

Configure Managed Token Authentication
Use Managed Token authentication when the data provider requires authentication credentials before source data can be retrieved.
  1. From the Authorization dropdown, select Managed Token.
  2. Enter the Post URL.
    • The Post URL is the authentication endpoint used to request authentication information from the provider.
  3. Enter the Request Body.
    • The Request Body contains the authentication information required by the provider. This may include credentials or other authentication parameters.
  4. Select Connect.

  1. Review the populated authentication information.
  2. Verify the Access Token Path, Refresh Token Path, Expiry Path, and Expiry Type values are correct.
    • Access Token Path identifies the authentication token returned by the provider.
    • Refresh Token Path identifies the refresh token returned by the provider, if one is used.
    • Expiry Path identifies the expiration value returned by the provider.
    • Expiry Type determines when Data Studio should request a new token
  3. If necessary, select a different value or enter a custom path.
  4. Select Confirm.

⚠️ Note: Authentication requirements vary by provider. Obtain the required authentication information from the provider's API or integration documentation before configuring the source.

Save the Web Data Source
  1. Review the configuration settings.
  2. Enter a Name for the source.
  3. Configure the remaining source properties.
  4. Select Save..
The source is saved using the configured authentication settings.
