How to Add a Device to a Canvas

DI-4000;  DI-4160-0

Steps

  1. Open Edit mode.
  2. Select Add Device.    
  3. Choose:
    • Detected Device

Use this option when the DI-4000/DI-4160 is:

  • Powered on
  • Connected to the network
  • Reachable by the system

The software will automatically discover available devices on the network so you can add them directly to the canvas.

Example:
You are onsite during installation and the DI-4160 is already connected to the switch and powered on. The device appears in the detected device list, allowing you to select and place it on the canvas immediately.

    • Offline Add

Use this option when the hardware is:

  • Not yet installed
  • Not currently connected to the network
  • Being configured in advance for deployment

Offline Add allows you to design and build the canvas configuration before the physical device is available.

Example:
You are preparing a system configuration in the office before traveling to the customer site. The DI-4160 hardware has not been installed yet, but you can still add placeholder devices and complete the canvas layout ahead of time.

  1. Place the device on the canvas.
  2. Align placement with physical display layout.
  3. Save changes.
  4. Apply configuration.
