Venus Control Suite Web Editor: How to use Entry and Data Effects?

This article explains how to apply entry effects and data effects in the Web Editor. Entry effects allow users to add motion when content appears in a presentation, while data effects provide a visual indication when data changes.

These features are available in Venus Professional, Enterprise, and Live.

Effects are recommended for images. Video playback and some effects may be impacted by player type, performance limitations, or the number of effects used in a presentation.

Access the Web Editor

Before using effects, ensure your presentation is set up in the Web Editor.

  1. Log in to Venus Control Suite
  2. Navigate to the Web Editor app

  1. Select an existing presentation or create a new presentation
  2. Open the presentation in Web Editor
    Apply Entry Effects to Elements

    Entry effects apply when an element appears in the presentation. Entry effects can be used with text, images, and other presentation elements.

    Use entry effects to animate an element.

    1. Select an element on the canvas
    2. In Properties, select Effects
    3. Choose an entry effect from the menu
    4. Set the available effect options, such as Duration and Delay
      • Select Preview to review the effect

      1. Select Save

      Additional Notes:

      • Video playback and some effects may be impacted by player type, performance limitations, or the number of effects used in a presentation.
      • Slide transitions are separate from entry effects and data effects.
      • If display transitions are enabled, a slide transition in Web Editor may play in addition to the display transition. This could create unintended visual results.
      • The duration of a slide transition adds to the slide/image duration. This may increase the total amount of time the content plays.
      Apply Data Effects

      Data effects apply when a value from a Data Studio source changes in the Web Editor. For example, if a data value updates from one number to another, the selected data effect can visually indicate that change.

      Use data effects to add a visual effect when data from a Data Studio source changes.

      1. Confirm a data source has been added in Data Studio
      2. Add or select a data element in the Web Editor
      3. In Properties, select Effects
      4. Choose a data effect from the menu
      5. Set the available effect options, such as Duration and Delay.
      6. Select Preview to review the effect

      1. Select Save

      Additional Notes:

      • Data effects require a Data Studio source.
      • Data effects do not apply to player-generated elements, such as countdowns or player-generated date, time, and temperature elements.
      • Video playback and some effects may be impacted by player type, performance limitations, or the number of effects used in a presentation.
