Venus Control Suite Liveview and Webcams: Metered Connection Setting Behavior

The Metered Connection setting adjusts how images are delivered in Liveview and from supported webcams. When enabled, Liveview images update approximately every 3 seconds, and webcam image size may be reduced for certain supported webcam types.

Steps

Enabled Metered Connection in Displays App
  1. Log in to Venus Control Suite Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Open the Displays App.

  1. Select an existing display.
  2. Locate Metered Connection under Display Configuration tab.

  1. Set Metered Connection to Yes.
  2. Save changes.
View Liveview in Monitoring App
  1. Open the Monitoring app.

  1. From a display tile menu, select LiveView from the drop-down arrow, to view the latest content on the display.
Liveview Behavior
  • Metered Connection = No: Images return as quickly as possible based on network connection.
  • Metered Connection = Yes: LiveView images update approximately every 3 seconds.

Webcam Behavior
  • Webcam refresh interval is approximately 10 seconds.
  • Metered Connection does not impact webcam refresh interval.
  • Metered Connection does impact webcam image size for certain webcam types (see table below).
