Vanguard; Climate Control Error but RPM Sensors are Reporting Values; Defog Heat and Vent Fan Relay Connections Swapped at VCB

Potential Symptoms

  • System Health is reporting Climate Control Error with all RPM sensors failing.
  • RPM sensors are reporting actual values instead of timed out.
  • RPM sensors trigger and report proper values when All On 100% Burn test pattern is triggered.
  • Turning on Vent Fan control triggers Defog Heaters, but not Vent Fans.
  • Turning on Defog Heater control triggers Vent Fans, but not Defog Heaters.

Cause

Vent Fan and Defog Heater relay connections at TB1 on the VCB are swapped.

Resolution

  1. Remove power to the VCB.
  2. Swap VENT and DEFOG HEAT relay connections at TB1 (FAN/HEATERS).
  3. Restore power to the VCB.
  4. Verify Vent Fan control and Defog Heater control now triggers proper components.
  5. Re-run Climate Control Test Activation and verify no further Climate Control errors are present.
