DMP Application is missing from Installed Windows applications

Potential Symptoms

  • DMP application that was installed is missing from the list of installed windows applications

Cause

An automated DMP update has failed during the installation process due to an error

Resolution

Manual Installation of Daktronics Media Player (DMP)

  1. Download and install the latest version of DMP-8000
    • Download the latest version of the DMP installer.
    • Run the Installer
      • Right-click the installer file and select "Run as administrator" to ensure you have the necessary permissions
  2. Follow Installation Prompts:
    • Proceed through the installation wizard, following the prompts to complete the installation.
    • Take Note: If any errors occur during this process, document:
      • The exact error message.
      • The specific step in the installation process where the error occurred.
      • Any error codes provided.

Run Windows Repair Procedures

If you encounter an error during the DMP installation, follow these standard Windows repair procedures:

  1. Open Command Prompt
    • Press `Windows + R`, type `cmd`, and press `Enter` to open Command Prompt. Alternatively, search for "Command Prompt" in the Start menu.
  2. Run Check Disk (chkdsk):
    • Type the following command to check the C: drive:
chkdsk c:
    • If you see the prompt:
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
    • Press Y and hit Enter.
  1. Reboot the System:
    • Reboot the computer. Windows will automatically run chkdsk on the C: drive during startup. Wait for this process to finish.

Retry DMP Installation

  1. Reboot the DMP:
    • After the system has rebooted and completed the chkdsk, you will be back in Windows.
  2. Attempt DMP Installation Again:
    • Try running the DMP installer again with administrative privileges.
    • Document Any New Errors: If any errors occur, note them as you did previously.

  1. Check Event Viewer:

  3. Retry the installation of DMP
