- How to update firmware on FL-5000 series display mods when being controlled by a FL5 Controller.
Environment
- Product: FL-5000
- Components: FL5 Controller, FL-5000 Modules
- Control System:
Steps
-
- Log into the controller.
- Go to Tools > System Tools
- Click Check for Update
-
- If the current version is 1.0.0.403 connect the FL5 to wired internet, as the only way to update 1.0.0.403 is by direct hardwired connection to a local internet source like a switch or router. Awareness, internet sharing and "click through prompt" internet logins will not allow an FL5 on 1.0.0.403 to update its firmware.
- If 1.0.0.403 is current firmware and the FL5 will not update its firmware when connected to wired internet, escalate call.
- If not 1.0.0.403, and not able to get the FL5 online to update its firmware, can use a USB stick. Navigate to Dakfiles.daktronics.com
- Click Instructions.txt and follow the directions.
-
- It takes a while to update the firmware on the FL5, and the FL5 does not show progress. Consider opening a new browser tab if checking to see if the update has completed. Do not power cycle FL5 during the firmware update process.
- Once FL5 firmware is updated, go to Configuration > Detect.
- Click Detect System.
- After Detect System finishes verify it finds the correct amount of modules and has configured the displays correctly.
- If the displays are configured correctly click Save.
- Go to Tools > System Tools.
- Press the "Update to vXXX" button in Update Display Firmware.
-
- Note: This update will take up to 7 minutes per Client radio, and the progress for each Client will be shown in the Status window. The update for each Client will happen sequentially and start the percent progress over again for each.
-
- If needing to update firmware to fix a Font issue continue to the next step.
- Go to Tools > System Tools >
- Update the font by clicking "Send Default" within the Font Firmware box.
- Verify the displays are now showing the prices in the correct spot and size.
- Detect System may be needed again to verify all of the modules and displays are configured correctly.
