The full price is small and only shows in the upper left module of an FL-5000 display with multiple modules, module firmware issue
Potential Symptoms
- The full price is much smaller than it should be.
- It only shows up on the upper left module in a display that has multiple modules
- All modules are Detected or counted up during the setup. If this is using Fuelink 5 the system is configured correctly to know which spread of modules are in what displays.
- Test Patterns Node Address, Linear Address, Module Permissions and Signal Direction all look correct.
- Error Codes test shows no errors on any modules.
- Display Borders test shows correctly sized borders around the displays.
- For Fuelink 5, the Alternating Rows test causes all the modules to light up at the same time instead of actual alternating rows.
- All modules show Firmware Version 243 and Font Version FR02.
- Are able to update those prices manually.
Environment
- Product: FL-5000
- Components:
- Control System: FL5 (Fuelink 5), possibly FLR5-400, module firmware 243
Cause
- Issue with module firmware rev 243
Resolution
- Update the module firmware to rev 244 or higher.
- For FL5-400 key fob systems
- Please collect the following data:
- SW Ver test
- Fnt Ver test
- Please ensure all mods are wired correctly per the signal wiring drawings in the Bill of Materials
- L_Addr test can validate this prior to taking apart the display.
- Please Escalate the Case. We'll want to doublecheck with Engineering that this issue can happen in a key fob system. And we'll need to discuss how this firmware can be updated.
- Please collect the following data:
- For FL5 (Fuelink 5) systems:
- Log into the controller.
- Go to Diagnostics > System Tools
- Verify the Controllers firmware version is 10.0.0.404 or higher. This lets us know that the controller has a module firmware rev that's at least 244 which we can push out to the modules.
- If needed, connect the controller to the internet and update the Controller's firmware to 10.0.0.404 or higher.
- Note: As of 12/2/24 it gives little to no indication when its updating the firmware and when its done. Sometimes you just need to give a few minutes then refresh the page to check if the rev has updated. You may need to power cycle the controller a few times and Detect the Displays again to restore comms to the displays.
- Go to Configuration > Displays.
- Press the "Bootload Mod Firmware (Version UNKNOWN)" button.
- Note: This update will take up to 7 minutes per Client radio, and the progress for each Client will be shown in the Status window. The update for each Client will happen sequentially and start the percent progress over again for each.
- Verify the displays are now showing the prices in the correct spot and size.
- For FL5-400 key fob systems
