General specifications
Category: Daktronics endorses Commercial grade displays from providers like LG, Samsung, & ELO. Displays should be rated for 24/7/365 operation and include the necessary feature set for recommended and supported use.
Please note that consumer-grade displays do not offer the operational hours or features required for long-term digital signage solutions, and we do not provide support for this category of LCD displays.
Size: No specific size is required, displays up to 98” diagonal are currently supported Resolution: 1920x1080 (FHD) or 3840x2160 (UHD)
Orientation: Portrait or Landscape support
Connectivity: HDMI input (1 or more), RS-232C (3.5mm w/ adapter), (Video Wall Displays include Display Port inputs)
Audio: Not all commercial displays provide speakers and instead rely on a connected soundbar solution to be able to hear any audio in the content. Be sure to refer to the display’s specifications regarding audio connectivity if audio is required.
Configuration specific
Displays using Built-in Player: Daktronics Web Player is an embedded solution that runs on Daktronics specified LCD displays only – see the DWP Quick Guide for a list of supported displays.
Solutions requiring Display Control (CMS based operation): Daktronics Venus Control Suite Display Control Capability relies on communication to the connected media player from VCS, which in turn communicates over a serial connection to the displays (RS-232 over Serial DB-9) connector. The LCD must have an RS-232 connection available to receive the commands. Example commands include On/Off, Volume Control, etc…
Displays in an array: When LCD displays are placed in an array configuration with multiple screens acting together to fulfill the solution requirements, it is critical that all displays be the same manufacturer and model in order to maintain the required consistency in operation and performance.
Mounting: Commercial LCD displays use industry standard VESA mounting patterns and Daktronics specifies commercial mounting solutions to match those patterns. Consumer displays may or may not be supported by commercial mounting solutions.
