Blank scoreboard, item jammed into the input phono cable jack on the scoreboard

Potential Symptoms

  • Blank Scoreboard
  • No POST
  • Power LED on the driver blinking. Possibly DS1 or DS2 blinking with it (Gyrus driver).
  • Scoreboard is grounded properly and receiving good incoming power.
  • Power going to the drivers is correct.
  • Nothing damaged or loose. Everything is wired correctly. Driver has correct address.
  • Disconnecting everything from the driver except for J17. Disconnected the signal wires from the main power/signal harness that go to TB31. No change to the LED behavior on the driver.
  • Seen on BB-2101 and H-2104. Could feasibly happen with other indoor scoreboard models.

Cause

  • Item jammed into the input phono cable jack on the scoreboard.
    • Its not clear if that item needs to be electrically conductive. For the one precedence we have it was (tin foil gum wrapper)

Resolution

  • Remove that item from the jack.

For Temporary Operation

  • Seen on Case 448984. Somebody took a tin foil gum wrapper and jammed into in the input phono cable jack. Not sure how this caused the problem with the sign. We had the input and output phono jacks wired to TB31. But we disconnected the other wires from that TB so it wasn't connected to the driver. And it still had that problem.
