Shot clock horn not sounding when shot time=0, horn wiring is disconnected or not making a contact

Potential Symptoms

  • Shot clock horn not working when shot time=0.
  • Horn is sounding faint or barely audible.

Cause

  • Horn wiring or wiring in the horn circuitry came loose or disconnected causing improper voltage to the horn.
  • Secure the power connections at the power entrance to the shot clock.
  • The horn is the first thing to stop working if there is a power drop.
  • Also check for any additional loads on the shot clock circuit that would drop the voltage.
  • The voltage only has to drop a little for the horn to stop working.

Resolution

  • Clean the wiring and reconnect it so that it is making a good contact.
  • Secure the power connections at the power entrance to the shot clock.
  • You might be able to get a couple turns on the power wire connection screws.
