FL-3000/4500: FLD3-2000 indoor/outdoor surge cards continuously short out soon after installation; Incorrect wallpack transformer.

Potential Symptoms

  • No communication between DM-100 and FL-3000 displays.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor surge cards short out shortly after installation.
  • 20-24VDC voltage reading between DM-100 output and surge cards.

Cause

  • Site is using a 24VDC wallpack transformer instead of a 12VDC transformer causing the DM-100 to output a 24VDC signal that shorts out the indoor and/or outdoor surge cards.

Resolution

  • DM-100 must receive 12VDC power from the wallpack transformer. 
    • Replace with A-4241688 WALLPACK, 85/264VAC IN, 12VDC OUT
