Red, or Green/Blue channels not displaying on NPN X400/X200 modules.

Potential Symptoms
  • Upon powering up following installation, either the Red, or the Blue/Green colors will not display. For example, if the Red channel is missing, white display will show as Cyan, and cycling RGBW will show Red missing and Cyan for the White output.
  • Issue will be isolated to all modules on single panel - signal passes through the affected panel and displays correctly on downstream panels.
  • Audible humming noise from power supply will be noticeable.

Cause

One or more outputs from power supply wired incorrectly. Reversing Ground and V02 will cause the Red channel to not output correctly, reversing Ground and V01 will cause both Green and Blue to be missing.

The above incorrect wiring results in the below error with display when displaying White. As the Red channel is missing, only Green and Blue are displayed, resulting in Cyan.

Resolution

Correct wiring to proper output and ground. Follow NPN-6200/5400: How To remove/replace a power supply on a display.

Note that wiring order will appear reversed when the power supply is installed face down in the panel.
