Galaxy display appears offline in VCS but it is visible on the customer's network

Potential Symptoms

  • VCS shows 1 of 2 devices online.
  • Able to ping the display in the network but not able to publish content on VCS.

Environment

  • Product: AF-3500
  • Component: M-Series Bridge
  • Control System: VCS

Cause

  • Display's IP address does not match the bridge's IP scheme. 
  • If the display is added to a VLAN with a different IP address, subnet mask, and gateway, both the display and the bridge may be accessible in the network but the display will not appear online in VCS.

Resolution

  • Change the bridge's network scheme to match the display's network scheme. 
    • In a VLAN the subnet mask and the gateway must be exact for both the display and bridge.
