How to perform a loopback test to test a serial communication system using Tera Term, With or without a Lantronix box

Steps
- Install Teraterm 4.60.zip (Save file to desktop then install)
Loopback - No Lantronix Box
- Open Tera Term and select the Serial radio button.
- Select the appropriate COM port from the drop down box and then press OK.
- The default Baud Rate of 9600 and other COM port settings can be used for loopbacks (Baud Rate of 19200 is used to see incoming RTD data).
- With the loopback in place (RX & TX jumpers), type some characters into to Tera Term and see if you can see what you type; if you can, the loopback is passing (good signal up to that point).
Loopback with Lantronix Box
- Open Tera Term and select the TCP/IP radio button
- Type in the correct IP address (default IP for Daktronics' Lantronix boxes is 172.16.192.24)
- Select Other from the Service selection categories
- Type in the TCP port # (3001 should normally be used) and the press OK (the Protocol shouldn't need to be specified)
- With the loopback in place, type some characters into to Tera Term and see if you can see what you type; if you can, the loopback is passing (good signal up to that point)
- Need to jumper pins 2 (TX) and 3 (RX) on 25 pin plug/RS232 output of Lantronix box. As you look at pins they number right to left 1-13 on top,14-25 on bottom of plug.
