Potential Symptoms

  • All Sport Game in Progress (GIP) data via radio is skipping, lagging, or delayed on scoreboards
  • Issue started after 5G Cell tower(s) was (were) installed near by

Environment

  • Product: Scoreboard
  • Component: All Sport 2.4 GHz transmitter, 5G Cell Tower near
  • Control System: Wireless All Sport 1600, 3000, 5000 (GEN 4, 5, or 6)

Cause

  • Not filtering out energy from the newly activated 5G adjacent bands

Resolution

  1. Verify issue is not due to common radio interferences
  2. Check if site will benefit with installing an All Sport antenna extension kit
  3. While issue is present check GEN VI radio signal strength and packet drops
  4. Is signal strength approx. 80 or less?
  5. OR is packets dropped 5+ per minute?
  6. If NOT circle back to steps 1-3 above
  7. IF YES proceed to next step
  8. AND was there a 5G Cell tower added within 1,000 ft when the issue started?
  9. Run through the same steps and test the console at the customer's other radio facilities further away from 5G Cell towers if possible
  10. If the above troubleshooting concludes the cause occured after the installation of 5G Cell tower(s)
    • Order bandpass filter kit 0A-1110-0165 @ qty of scoreboards affected
    • Install filters inside scoreboards connected between radio receiver cable and antenna
  11. If radio communication is substantially better but not great, circle back to steps 1-3 in the event the installation of the 5G Cell tower(s) was masking additional common radio interferences
