Windows Defender Smartscreen Blocked Bomgar App from Running

Potential Symptoms

A customer attempts to run the Bomgar file downloaded from our website but, when it runs they get an error message stating that the smartscreen had blocked the app from running. There is not an option to run anyway.

Cause

Windows Smart Screen settings have reputation-based protections that are enabled.

Resolution

  1. From the Windows Start menu select "Settings"
  2. Select "Update & Security"
  3. Select “Windows Security”
  4. Select “App & browser control"
  5. Click “Reputation based protection settings”
  6. Disable “Check apps and files” to turn off Windows Defender SmartScreen.
