How do I set the gain or sensitivity (input level) on a Yamaha TF1 Mixer?

Environment

  • Product: SSR-300 or Custom
  • Components: Yamaha TF1 Mixer With Dante
  • Control System: Sound​

Steps

Video Available​

  1. Turn down the fader for the channel being set
  2. Press SEL on the channel being set

    1. Or select it on the touch screen or from the computer interface
  3. Touch the Gain section on screen if it isn't already highlighted (almost complete circle with a number inside)

  4. The gain can be adjusted using the touch and turn knob at this point, but there is no accurate indication whether the level is proper or not.
  5. Touch the gain section again and the channel screen will open.
  6. Touch the A. Gain bar at the bottom of the screen if not already highlighted pink.

  7. Adjust the gain by turning the touch and turn knob for precise control.
    1. It can also be dragged on screen, or grabbed with the mouse if using a computer.
  8. Set the gain to a point where the signal shown in the 5 bubbles above the slider stays mostly in the large green center bubble.
    1. For media sources, play different files/tracks and/or different parts of files/tracks so that gain isn't set too high because of a track with a low volume intro.
  9. The D. gain should generally be left at 0
  10. To exit the channel screen, press the Home button at the bottom of the screen.
  11. Bring the fader up to the desired volume level.
  12. Repeat for any other channels that need to be set.
