Sign was damaged, shot and has a bullet hole through it

Potential Symptoms

  • Sign was shot.
  • Sign has a bullet hole in it.
  • Bullet hole in the top, bottom, rear or side panel(s).

 

Environment

  • Daktronics display.

Cause

  • The display was shot.
  • A bullet went through the sign.

Resolution

Investigation / discovery:
  • Sign will need to be inspected: Power off display during inspection
    • Inspection can be done by the contractor, customer or a Daktronics service rep.
  • Look for visible damage throughout the sign.
    • Initially look around the outside of the sign to get a good idea where the damage occurred.
  • Make notes and take pictures of where the damage is.
    • using a note pad or something to write on, draw out a duplication of what the sign looks like and mark where the damage is in reference to the sign. 
    • Closeup pictures are ok, as long as there's an overall picture indicating where the damage is.
      • Pictures are very useful in helping us determine what is damaged.
  • Report the damage to Daktronics Customer Service.
    • Customer service will create a case for the damaged sign(s) and an Account Service Manager will be assigned to the case.
    • The ASM will work internally to locate parts and instructions to be sent out when fixing the sign.
