Environment

  • Product: Daktronics Web Player (DWP)
  • Components: LG Display
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite 

Steps

Note:  When the display is turned on for the first time from the factory, you will be presented with a startup page. Select “Go to Settings” from the list of options and then navigate to “Start” and press OK.
 
  1. Ensure the display is running the latest firmware as outlined in DWP: How do I update or downgrade firmware for LG Displays? .
  2. Adjust network settings as needed to allow the display to reach the internet, reference How do I configure network settings on an LG Display?
  3. Configure the following settings on the display prior to the DWP software installation.

Sync the time 

  1. In the Settings menu under “General”, Select “Time & Date” 
  2. Enable “Set Automatically”. 
  3. Verify that “Play via URL” is disabled 

Click the Settings button on the remote.

  1. In the Settings menu under “EZ Settings”,  select Play via URL

  1. Verify that “URL Loader” is off.
  2. Complete the following steps to install DWP onto the LG webOS display.
    1. Press the Setting button on the remote.
    2. Select EZ Settings and navigate to SI Server Setting.

Enable Fully Qualified Domain Name.

  1. Input the following URL:  http://vcs.tv
  2. Change Local Application Mode to Local.
  3. Change Application Type to IPK.
  4. Under Local Application Upgrade, select Remote.
    • A confirmation dialog will be presented, select confirm and press OK.
    • A completion dialog will be presented, select OK.
  5. Power OFF then Power ON the screen using the Power button on the remote.
  6. The display will show the device registration code.

  1. Navigate to the "Device Association" menu for the display in VCS and click the Add Device With Code button.
  2. In the "Enter Registration Code" window that appears, enter the code shown on the display and click Done.
    • If the display doesn't start communicating to VCS in a few minutes you may need to power cycle the LG Display.
