No response error in Venus 1500; COM port locked up

Potential Symptoms

No response error in Venus 1500.
Unable to publish content to the display.
Reseating USB to Serial adapter does not resolve.
Correct COM port configurations set in Venus 1500 and Device Manager but no communication being passed.
Loopback test fails right on Tera Term / Putty connection initiation.

Environment

Product: Galaxy
Component: Serial Communication systems, USB to Serial Adapter or Computer COM Port
Control System: Venus 1500 v3 or v4

Cause

Suspect COM port is locked up on the Venus 1500 computer.

Resolution

Open Device Manager.
Locate Port (COM & LPT), than expand to reveal device.
Right click device and select Properties.
Select the Ports Configuration tab than Port Settings.
- Depending on the user's permissions, may need to select Change Settings first under the General tab. This will reveal the desired port settings options after password prompt.
Click on Advanced.
In the drop down box next to Port Number select the desired COM Port and click OK twice.
- Use any port that is not labelled "(in use)".

Change COM port in Venus 1500 to newly assigned port.

  - Note: New serial port will appear in place of previous port.
- May also need to disable and re-enable the USB to serial adapter in Device Manager after changing ports.
