NovaStar: How do I configure redundancy for a display using multiple MCTRL 4K sender boxes?

How to add redundancy (hot backup) for displays using a NovaS​tar Sender Box?

Environment

  • Product: Nova MCTRL 600, Nova MCTRL 660, NovaStar VX4S, PBOX 100, NovaStar brand sender box and receiver cards
  • Components: NovaLCT-Mars Software
  • Control System: Market Standard, NPP Control using transmit common/open protocol
    • This includes but not limited to DVN-4003, J Series, U Series, Q Series, JVX, QVN-1000, and ZPN.

Steps

Method 2: Multiple MCTRL 4K Cascaded with USB

  1. Open NovaLCT-Mars, enter Screen Configuration.

Under this method, the back up sending box doesn't need to be configured. 

  1.  In Sending Card configuration page, click Add in Redundancy.

  1. Enter the corresponding primary and backup sending Box number and port number in the pop-up window.

  1. Click Add to save sending box and port setting into Redundancy setting.
  2. Repeat above steps to add all ports into Redundancy setting.
  3. Click Save to save redundancy information to the hardware.


On the Screen Connection tab there will be 2 Sending card numbers, 1 is for the primary box and 2 is for the redundant box.

Method 3: Multiple MCTRL 4K Non-Cascaded with USB

1. Open NovaLCT-Mars, enter Screen Configuration.

2. Follow NovaStar: How do I configure a NovaLCT Sender Box?  to configure primary and backup sending box properly.

Both configuration should be identical. 

3. After configuration, in sending card configuration for primary sending box, check the opinion "Set as Primary"

4. Click Save to save redundancy information to the hardware.

5. In sending card configuration for backup sending box, check the opinion "Set as Backup" 

6. Click Save to save redundancy information to the hardware.

Method 4: Multiple MCTRL 4K Non-Cascaded with Ethernet

Before setting up redundancy, sending box's IP address must be set through its control panel in front.

  1. Open NovaLCT-Mars, enter Screen Configuration.

  1.  Follow How do I configure a NovaLCT-Mars Sender Box? to configure primary and backup sending box properly. Note: Both configuration should be identical. 
  2. After configuration, in sending card configuration for primary sending box, check the opinion "Set as Primary"
  3. Click Save to save redundancy information to the hardware.
  4. In sending card configuration for backup sending box, check the opinion "Set as Backup" 
  5. Click Save to save redundancy information to the hardware.
