Radar gun reporting as timed out on VFC peripherals

Potential Symptoms

  • Radar gun peripheral is showing as timed out.
  • RX light on media convertors is not blinking.
  • Incorrect configuration.

Environment

  • Product Family: Transportation

  • Component: VFC, Radar Gun. media converters

Cause

  • DTE/DCE selection switch on media converters is set incorrectly.

Resolution

  1. Set switch to  DTE on radar gun side.
  2. Set switch to DCE on VFC side.
    1. "Normal" setup does not need loop setup for highways and roads (typically loop setup is for intersections) 
  3. Power cycle both media converters.
This allows the user to change radar messages to activate at the same priority level as other NTCIP messages.
