B&B VESP211 Ethernet to Serial converter looses and wont re-establish connection

  • To troubleshoot and correct an intermittent ethernet connection loss of the VESP211.

Steps

  1. Ensure that recommended Ethernet cable lengths have not been exceeded
  2. Ensure that there is sufficient signal strength at wireless Ethernet device location.
  3. Ensure that there are no legacy devices on the network attemping to connect to the VESP211's designated IP address (Wireshark).
    1. If the above measures fail, gain access to the VESP211's configuration interface via Vlinx Serial Server Manager Software
    2. In the "Port 1 - Settings" setup screen,  change the connection limit from "1 connection" to "4 connections".Port 1 Settings.JPG
    3. In the "Port 1 - Advanced" setup screen,  change Network Watchdog time limit from "300" to "1440".Port 1 Settings - Advanced.JPG
  4. If all above fails, consider replacing the VESP211.
