GS6 display blank after reboot or stuck on BIOS initializing

Potential Symptoms

  • The power cycle does not change the issue or resolve it.
  • DMP stays offline even though VIP is accessible.
  • The display shows BIOS messages: 
    • Gave up waiting for root
    • Boot args
    • Check rootdelays=
    • Check root=

  • Display appears blank or with a BIOS message.
    • Power cycle does not change the issue or resolve.

  • Display face and VIP web UI monitor showing "Initializing" message stuck.

  • Another error seen on the monitor: (handoff, Target, others...)

  • DMP is usually offline.
  • Last Connection from DMP to Venus Control Suite often a Tuesday morning, 3, 4, or 5 AM depending on time zone.
  • DMP run light may be off, and unable to ping the DMP from the VIP.
  • Alert in VCS shows degraded signal.
  • xinit: giving up

  • Component: DMP-5000 issue happened on 8.42.0.58 and after update on 8.52.0.71
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Unknown.

Resolution

  • Replace Controller.
