How to setup a DEMO MODE in Westhold Race Manager to integrate with All Sport 5100 or Daktronics Motorsports Interface (DMI)

Resolution

  • These steps will walk you through setting up DEMO MODE to show a successful demo output running from Westhold Race Manger through an All Sport 5100 (code 333) or DMI to a Six-Digit MDP scoreboard.
  1. Steps to Setup Westhold:
    1. Westhold implements:
      1. RMonitor protocol for running through DMI.
      2. Scoreboard Control selected for Daktronics Scoreboard Type for running through All Sport 5100 in code 333.
    2. Under RMonitor, set Comm Port to the COM port that will output to DMI
    3. Click to place a Check in Enable Serial
    4. Under Scoreboard Control assign Total Positions, in this example 10
    5. Enable DEMO MODE ON
    6. Click Assign tab at the bottom left
    7. Click Add New and assign it a name
    8. Fill out Index 1-10 with Trns ID starting at 1001 incrementing by 1 and Racer No. starting at 01 incrementing by 1 (these numbers are not required, but are suggestions)
    9. Click Timing tab click Start (F2)
    10. Left pane will show Place 1-10
    11. As the Demo progresses it will show a change and that is what will output to DMI
    12. In Westhold enable DEMO MODE ON
  2. For use with All Sport 5100 enter code 0333.
  3. For use with DMI Setup DMI:
    1. Setup DMI Input 
    2. Serial 
      1. COM (input COMM port from Westhold)
      2. 9600
      3. 8
      4. None
      5. 1
    3. Setup DMI Output
      1. Protocol: Six-digit MDP
      2. leave defaults
    4. Setup DMI Output Port Setup...
      1. Serial
      2. COM (output COMM port to signal converter for scoreboard)
      3. 9600
      4. 8
      5. None
      6. 1
  4. Demo mode is now setup and running.  
  5. Pylon display within DMI will show position data and output to signal converter to display make sure all cables and COMM ports are properly connected
