Venus Scheduling: Media item stuck or playing on display too long

Potential Symptoms

  • Messages are remaining on the display for an extended duration, such as 10 seconds, 10 minutes, 1 hour, or even 24 hours per message
  • Only the first media item in the playlist is being displayed.
  • The image seems to be stuck or frozen on the screen.

Environment

  • Product: GS6, GC6, Galaxy, DMP, Billboard
  • Component: Image Duration settings
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • The image duration is not configured to the preferred time frame.
  • By default, the duration is set to 10 seconds. 
  • Setting the duration to 24 hours will result in each image being displayed for that entire period in the playlist.

Resolution

Log into Venus Control Suite and navigate to the Displays App. 

  1. Click on the display you want to change the default image duration for.

  2. Select Scheduling.

  3. Enter in the Image Duration default time.

  4. Click the blue Save button in the upper left.

    Note: 🛠️Only account administrators will have access to change the display's settings.

    Note: This will change the duration of all pieces of content on the display.
