Show Control: When updating, installing or launching Display Studio, receive error "Database 'msdb' cannot be opened."

Potential Symptoms

  • When updating, installing, or launching Venus 1500 or Display Studio, receive the following error:
    • Database 'msdb' cannot be opened. It has been marked SUSPECT by recovery. See the SQL Server errorlog for more information. Problems recording information in the msdb..suspect_pages table were encountered.
    • This error does not interfere with any activity except maintenance of the suspect_pages table. Check the error log for more information.

  • When clicking Ok to the error, receive and SQLCMD Error Code 1, and directs to a specific log file. When reviewing the log file, you see the following error:
    • Database 'msdb' cannot be opened. It has been marked SUSPECT by recovery. See the SQL Server errorlog for more information.

  • When reviewing SQL Server ERRORLOG, you see the following errors:
    • Error: 9003, Severity: 20, State: 1.
      The log scan number ( ) passed to log scan in database 'msdb' is not valid. This error may indicate data corruption or that the log file (.ldf) does not match the data file (.mdf).
    • Error: 3414, Severity: 21, State: 1.
      An error occurred during recovery, preventing the database 'msdb' (database ID 4) from restarting.
