FL-2000/4000, FLR-100 key fob remote will not communicate with displays, Incorrect driver dip switch settings

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to change prices with key fob after swapping the driver that has the receiver card/antenna attached to it.
  • Replacement of the driver has occurred but unable to communicate with displays.
  • RC-50 light will blink when a button on the remote is pressed, but cannot enter price edit mode.

Environment

  • Product: Fuelight or DataMaster, FL-2000, FL-2100, FL-2300, FL-4000, DF-2000, DF-2009, DF-2100, DF-2300, DF-4000, Gas Price or Petroleum Price Display
  • Component: FLR-100/RC-50 Key Fob (Wireless Communication Option), Handheld Remote.
  • Control System: Digit and Price Displays

Cause

  • Dip switches on the driver are not set to match the remote.

Resolution

  • Change the dip switches on the replacement driver to match the original driver that was removed from the display.

Additional Info on addressing

  1. Setting the addressing on the dials requires us to know which driver we are working with.  See Figure 1.

  2. Setting the unique addressing for security with the driver and key fob:

Helpful hint

  •  If having issues deciphering which way the switches need to go follow these steps.
    1. Set the dip switches on the back of the FLR-100 all one direction.
    2. Set the dip switches on the driver with the RC-50 radio connection to all one direction and test communication.
    3. If it fails set the dip switches on the driver all the other direction and test communication.
    4. Once communication is established change 1 or more dip switches on both to set a unique channel if desired. This would be required if another gas station price sign is close by and using the same system.  Cross talk could occur if both were set to the same unique address.
