How to configure a Moxa Ethernet I/O for a VFC or VC6
Topic
- How do I configure a remote Ethernet I/O for a VF or VC6 display?
- How do I setup an over height switch utilizing a Moxa Ethernet I/O?
Environment
- Product: VS6, VC6, VT6, Vanguard display
- Components: VFC, DMP-5050, DMP-8050
- Control System: Local control, Vanguard Professional Software
Steps
Upload the correct firmware to the controller
- Upload/install the newest player (DMP) firmware to the controller..
Configure the ETHERNET I/O
Option 1: Configuring the I/O locally on the VFC or through the NTCIP interface of the DMP
- Log into the NTCIP page of the DMP, or into the VFC locally.
- Select SHARED
- ETHERNET I/O
- CHANGE DEVICE
- MOXA IOLOGIK E1212
- Cancel back to the previous menu and select IP ADDRESS.
- Enter the IP address of the I/O. (Default: 192.168.127.254) NOTE: Depending on the network the IP addresses may have to be within the same subnet. The controllers IP and the IO IP can be changed within their respective web interfaces. (controllers IP address needs to be similar to the I/O)
- Cancel back from the previous menu and select PORT
- Enter the I/O port. (Default: 502)
- Cancel back from the previous menu and select ENABLE
- Select ENABLE
Option 2: Configure the I/O through the webpage interface.
- Access the DMP I/O Configuration Page.
- For assistance accessing the Configuration page, contact Daktronics Technical Support.
- Make sure Enabled and ERTD are on.
- Select add device.
- Add the IP of the Moxa.
- Set the port to what the Moxa will be using.
- Then in drop down select Moxa(TM) iologik E1212.
- Verify the Poll Rate and Timeout values are set to "0".
- Example configuration:
- Select Save
- IMPORTANT: If you changed the credentials on the Moxa, change the credentials in the DMP I/O configuration to match by selecting the Key icon (right side of screen) on the I/O services Dashboard page.
- After entering the credentials, click on SAVE
- If unable to configure Ethernet I/O or get to I/O service webpage you may need to restore defaults on the controller via the Shared menu reset options. This will require re-configuring the controller afterwards. You will then be able to configure the Ethernet I/O as per above instructions.
Configure the Over Height switch (optional)
- Log into the VFC locally, or through the NTCIP interface on the DMP.
- Select SIGN 1
- CONFIGURATION
- PERIPHRIAL
- ADD
- ADVANCED SETUP
- ADD OVER HEIGHT DETECTOR
- ETHERNET I/O 1
- CONTROL PIN: 1
- Select what you would like the sign to do when the over height is triggered.
*NOTE: If configuring for a Binary or BCD (Binary Count Decimal) switch in the VFC, there is a limit of a maximum of 8 DI (inputs).
