How to configure a DMP for VS6 display

Environment

  • Product:  VS6 Display
    • Display Interface Boards (PLR's)
  • Component:  DMP or VFC controller, USB memory stick/thumb drive (loaded with translation table)
  • Control System:  Vanguard Professional or Standard software

Steps

  1. Login to the VFC controller, either locally at the LCD screen or through the NTCIP (Car) Icon in the DMP web interface.
  2. Select Sign 1.
  3. Select Configuration.
  4. Select System.
  5. Select Required.
  6. Select Model.
  7. Select GS6.
  8. Select Access.
  9. Select Front.
  10. Select Module.
  11. Select Full Color.
  12. Select ProLink5.
  13. Select your module size. For example, 16x20.
  14. Enter the Pixel Pitch.
    1. Will typically be 20. Utilize the Site Configuration sheet/module part number and description to verify.
  15. Select Pixel Height and Pixel Width and enter the proper display dimensions. Refer to configuration drawing/display assembly number to determine these numbers.
  16. Load the Translation Table to the controller following How to load a custom translation table on to a VFC.
    1. Reference the Site Configuration document to determine the proper Translation Table for the display. Please contact Daktronics Technical Support if you do not have the correct Translation Table.
    2. NOTE: Some displays will use the Automatic Translation Table rather than a Custom Translation Table.
  17. Once back at the main System Configuration menu, arrow down and select Display Interface.
  18. Select Configure.
  19. Enter the number of Display Interfaces (PLRs).
    1. Reference the Site Configuration sheet per the contract to determine how many PLRs are in the display.
  20. Press Cancel twice to navigate to the Configuration menu.
  21. Select Peripheral.
  22. Select Add.
  23. Select Advanced Setup.
  24. Arrow down and select Add Light.
    1. Add Light connected to PLR.
      1. Select Front.
      2. Select Specify.
      3. Enter 2 for the Address.
      4. Select On Display Interface.
      5. Select First Display Interface.
      6. Select LUX (Default).
    2. Add Light connected to embedded DMP-5050 controller.
      1. Select Front.
      2. Select Specify.
      3. Enter 2 for the Address.
      4. Select On Video Processor.
      5. Select LUX (Default).
