My player names from Stat Crew do not populate on my display with correct player first and last names?

Potential Symptoms

  • My player names from Stat Crew do not populate on my display with correct player first and last names?

Environment

  • Product Family: Software and Controllers
  • Product: Stat Crew Interface
  • Component: roster maintenance
  • Control System: NCAA Sports

Cause

  •  Stat Crew only provides one field for the players full name.  There is nothing separating the first and last names in Stat Crew.

  • This can display inconsistent results for first and last names because there is a variety of ways a player name can be entered. Examples of how the names can appear are listed in a screen shot below. Stat Crew name check.jpg
  • Display operators often want to be able to use player first and last name separately in their content.  Kylie Nelson Content Studio.png

Resolution

  • The DSTI or Daktronics Scoring and Timing Interface will infer the first and last names if the Stat Crew operator uses a comma separating the first and last names when entering or editing the team rosters.

In Stat Crew, enter your player names in the roster as Last Name,First Name- with no space after the comma.

For example:

    • If name is "Cyrus,Billy Ray" the RTD fields will be as follows:
      • Player Name = "Cyrus,Billy Ray" (This is the native field from the data file. It will always be direct and unchanged.)
      • Player First name Inferred = "Billy Ray" (All text after the comma.)
      • Player Last Name Inferred = "Cyrus" (All text before the comma.)
Also, when setting up a roster, all single-digit jersey numbers must have a leading zero (EX: Player No. 2 is entered as "02").
