Content Studio: How do I use Batch Conversion?

Potential Symptoms

  • Batch Conversion in Daktronics Content Studio
  • Importing groups of files at one time

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy
  • Component: Content Studio, DMP-1500, M3
  • Control System: Venus 1500; Show Control System (SCS)
Batch Conversion is used to convert multiple Still Images or Videos to one single presentation or to multiple presentations, rather then importing each Still Image or Video one at a time.

Resolution

It is highly important to make sure all files (images and/or videos) being converted do not contain any of these illegal or invalid special characters:

! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ ` { | } ~

Daktronics software does not use the same nomenclature for file naming as Microsoft Windows uses. If you convert any file containing any of these special characters, it may cause issues with the Venus 1500 v4 and/or Show Control software or with the display controller. You may also see Receiving error 'The file name contains invalid characters. Please enter a different file name.' when trying to save in Content Studio, Invalid characters. for additional information.
  1. Launch Daktronics Content Studio.
    • Venus 1500 - Click Content Tab, click Create.
    • Display Studio - Click Pencil Icon in upper right corner.
  2. Click Orange V Application Menu -> Batch Conversion.
  3. Click New Session.
  4. Select Display or Display Type.
  5. Select which display or display type you would like to do a batch conversion for, click Finish.

  10. Place a check mark next to all files you like to convert.
  11. Under Single/Multiple Presentations, check if you would like the files to convert in as one single presentation (Give presentation a name) or leave unchecked if you would like the files to convert in as separate presentations
(Please note, if you leave unchecked, the files will convert using the exact name of the file. Example is if your Still Image is called Pizza on your computer, it will convert with the same name).
  12. Under Target Folder click Browse.
  13. Under Nucleus folder, either select an existing folder or create a new folder for the converted files. Click Ok.
  14. Optional: On Left Menu, choose Layout Options.
