Getting a missing shortcut message when launching Profile editor from the Windows Start Menu, Content Studio V2 has new file path

Potential Symptoms

  • Display Studio is running version 2.18 or 2.19
  • Getting a Missing Shortcut error when launching Profile Editor from the Windows Start Menu.

  • After a couple of minutes the message may be replaced with a Windows message stating there is a problem with the shortcut.

Cause

  • The Profile Editor short cut was added to the Windows Start Menu prior to Display Studio being updated to version 2.18 or higher.
  • Display Studio 2.18 introduces Content Studio v2 that changes the file path to "Nucleus Profile Editor.exe" file.

Resolution

  • Update Display Studio to v2.20 or greater or follow the steps listed below.
  1.  Go to the Start Menu and right click on Profile Editor.
  2.  Select more options and click on "Open file location"  Profile Edit error 4.png
  3.  Right Click on "Profile Editor" and select properties. Profile Edit error 5.png
  4. Edit the "Target" file path to be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Content Studio v2\Nucleus Profile Editor.exe" Profile Edit error 3.png

For Temporary Operation

  • When the Problem with Shortcut pop up appears, clicking on "Fix it" will launch Profile Editor but the error will come up each time you attempt to launch Profile Editor.
