Module has random pixel failures on a VF display

Potential Symptoms

  • Pixel failures that change location
  • Removing one module may cause the whole display to work
  • a line of modules shows 2 until 1 of the modules is removed, then all remaining modules figure 8 and work correctly
  • Lag on some lines or modules while running test patterns

Cause

  • Incorrect module Baud rate was set.

Resolution

  • Set the module baud rate to a slower speed:
    • Log into the controller.
      • Play a test pattern.
        • Select Diagnostics.
        • Select Test Patterns.
        • Select Auto Test.
      • Then go back to the main menu screen.
        • Select Configuration.
        • Select System Configuration.
        • Select Configure Options.
        • Select Special Features.
        • Select Module Baud Rate.
        • Select 500K, Look at the front of the sign. If you don't see anything on the front of the sign.
        • Select 250K, Look at the front of the sign. If you don't see anything on the front of the sign.
        • Select 100K, Look at the front of the sign. If you don't see anything on the front of the sign.
        • Select Default, Look at the front of the sign. If you don't see anything on the front of the sign.
