No communication to display, PoE is missing

Potential Symptoms

  • No link light on Ethernet Port where the sign is connected to the network.
  • No communication through the radios.
  • "Network Cable Unplugged" or "Media State Disconnected"  on the LAN Adapter in Network Connections.

Cause

  • The PoE (POE injector box or power cord) is missing.

Resolution

  • Find or acquire an 18 VDC PoE injector and install per the following directions:
    1. Place POE between radio and computer/network.
    2. Connect computer to data in side of DC injector (jack next to power cord).
    3. Connect server radio to power out side of DC injector (red sticker above jack will say "connect POE device only").
    4. Connect power adapter.
    5. Verify DC injector is powered and has the power light lit.
    6. Verify communication with display. The display might need be power cycled to restore full communication.
