Published messages in Venus 1500 V4 are going to Stored Presentations folder, content saved in défaut folder

Potential Symptoms

  • Display may be blank.
  • Messages showing in Stored Presentations have a diamond-question mark icon in the file path. 
  • Venus installed using French Region in Windows. All labels and buttons will thus show as French translations.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 V4
  • Galaxy displays

Cause

  • Controller does not recognize the accented e (é) in the défaut folder.

Resolution

  1. Set windows to English in Region and Language.
    1. Go to Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel.
    2. Select Region and Language.
    3. Click on Keyboards and Language tab, choose Change Keyboards.
    4. From the General Tab, where it says Default input language, change it to one of the following keyboards:
      • English (Canada) - US
      • English (United States) - US
    5. Click Apply and Ok.
    6. Click Ok and close out of Control Panel.
  2. Uninstall Venus 1500 and reinstall it following How do I reinstall or setup the Venus 1500 V4 software after a computer crash, hard drive reimage, or new computer purchase?, DD2419636.

Work Around

  1. Save content under a different subfolder (without special characters in it) or directly in the Galaxy folder.
  2. Republish content from this folder to the display.
